Missouri briefly had a statewide paid sick-leave mandate — Proposition A, approved by voters on Nov 5, 2024 and effective May 1, 2025 — but the Missouri General Assembly repealed it effective Aug 28, 2025. As of 2026, Missouri has no statewide paid sick-leave law. The only federal floor is the unpaid FMLA (50+ employee employers, 12 weeks unpaid). During the brief window it was in force, Proposition A required 1 hr/30 hrs (up to 56 hrs for 15+ employers, 40 for smaller) and allowed a private action for denied leave.
Missouri borders two mandated states — Nebraska and Illinois — but its own mandate was repealed, so in practice Missouri employers again face no state accrual rule. Neighbors Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky also have no mandate. The nearest operative mandates are in Nebraska, Illinois, and (to the west) Colorado.
